The Security Service released a further 357 files to The National Archives on 1 March 2005, its largest release to date. This brought the total number of its records in the public domain to almost 2,500.
Most of the files in this release are from 1939-45, but there are many from the inter-war period and post-war period up to 1954, dealing with a range of groups and subjects. As with previous releases, most of the records are personal files relating to individuals.
