Spy Gadgets in World War II: Secret writing ingredients
Spies used invisible inks to send messages home (see also the Invisible Ink page). They were often given special chemicals to mix with water, to create invisible ink. They hid these chemicals in many clever places.
This boot had tiny pellets of quinine sulphate (used to make invisible ink) hidden near one of its lace holes.
