Reports on MI5 activities (30 January 2008)

Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee has issued its annual report for 2007 on the activities of the intelligence services, including the Security Service, over the past year. The Government has published a response to the report and the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, has also announced that the Rt. Hon. Margaret Beckett MP has been appointed to chair the Committee, taking over from the Rt. Hon. Paul Murphy MP.

The Interception of Communications Commissioner, the Rt. Hon. Sir Paul Kennedy, has also published his annual report for 2006 on the use of communications intercepts by the Security Service and other public bodies.
