LIFE SAVERS - THE PUBLIC'S ROLE IN TACKLING TERRORISM (17.03.03)
The Metropolitan Police launched the "Life Savers" campaign on 17 March to encourage members of the public to call the confidential, free Anti-Terrorist Hotline on 0800 789 321 if they have any information about suspicious people or activities that could be linked to terrorism. David Veness, Assistant Commissioner, Specialist Operations, said: "Experience has shown us that communities defeat terrorism. Together, the police and public can reduce the danger posed by terrorists and we would urge anyone with information whether they are in London or other parts of the UK to come forward." (PDF format).
