On 27 October MI5 was honoured to receive a visit from HRH The Princess Royal to our London headquarters, Thames House.
We are saddened to announce that Sir Patrick Walker, Director General of MI5 between 1988-1992, died on 13 October following a long illness.
"Yesterday saw a horrendous terror attack against a Member of Parliament, as he was doing the job he was elected to do, engaging with his constituents. Our thoughts go out to the family of Sir David Amess at this terrible time. “Our focus as MI5 is to continue to work with partners to identify and disrupt all terrorist threats, whether plots directed by terror groups or self-initiated acts by individuals, to ensure the British public can go about their daily lives without fear of intimidation or violence.” Ken McCallum
October is Black History Month - an annual celebration of the history and contributions of Black people in the UK. MI5 is proud to be an employer who celebrates and champions diversity and so throughout October we have a month of events planned for our staff.
For the sixth year in a row, MI5 is marking National Inclusion Week, to highlight the importance of inclusion across the UK. As a visible display of our commitment to inclusion, we’ll be flying our Inclusion Flag above our London headquarters for the whole week.
