HRH The Princess Royal visits MI5

Published date: 01 Nov 2021

On 27 October MI5 was honoured to receive a visit from HRH The Princess Royal to our London headquarters, Thames House.

During what was her first visit to MI5, her Royal Highness was escorted by Director General Ken McCallum and had the opportunity to meet with over 50 staff members from across the organisation’s varied work areas. She received several briefings, including an insight into how the organisation adapted to working during the COVID-19 pandemic.

MI5 has enjoyed a long and close relationship with the Royal Family. Her Majesty The Queen last visited our Thames House headquarters in 2020, HRH The Prince of Wales has been patron of the UK intelligence services since 2011, and HRH The Duke of Cambridge previously spent a week working alongside intelligence officers to gain a greater understanding of our work.
