MI5 headquarters lights up blue for carers

Published date: 17 Apr 2020

Thames House, the MI5 headquarters in Central London, joined many other buildings around the UK in lighting up blue in support of #ClapForOurCarers. The Clap For Our Carers campaign encourages people to share in a round of applause at 8pm every Thursday to show appreciation for those working in the fight against COVID-19.

As part of our mission to keep the country safe, MI5 is contributing towards the national effort to deal with the COVID-19 crisis. We have surged medically-trained staff members to the NHS to assist with the front-line response. We have also been providing protective security advice into the design and construction of the new NHS Nightingale hospitals.

Director General Sir Andrew Parker spoke to the BBC about how MI5 is responding to the pandemic. It can be accessed here.
