Director General statement on Sir David Amess MP

Published date: 16 Oct 2021

"Yesterday saw a horrendous terror attack against a Member of Parliament, as he was doing the job he was elected to do, engaging with his constituents. Our thoughts go out to the family of Sir David Amess at this terrible time.

“Our focus as MI5 is to continue to work with partners to identify and disrupt all terrorist threats, whether plots directed by terror groups or self-initiated acts by individuals, to ensure the British public can go about their daily lives without fear of intimidation or violence.”
