Specialist roles at MI5
MI5 recruits specialists in all areas of our business, be it corporate (such as lawyers, or occupational psychologists), technology (such as solutions architects or help desk analysts) or languages. To keep the country safe, however, we also require a range of specialisms to work alongside our intelligence functions.
Our Occupational Psychologists are involved in a wide range of activities that play an important role in ensuring we find and keep the right people. This includes clarifying role requirements, creating job descriptions, designing assessment centre materials, auditing and advising on internal selection processes and designing recruitment campaigns. They also advise, guide and train assessors, managers and the recruitment teams on areas such as fairness, consistency and best practice.
Physical Security Advisors
Our Physical Security Advisors deliver advice to organisations that comprise the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) on physical security measures aimed at preventing and reducing the impact of malicious threats such as terrorism and espionage.
Our Speech Technicians identify, plan and conduct research on cutting-edge technology projects relating to speech processing and analysis. They work at the forefront of a fast-evolving field alongside our partners developing new capabilities to support the work of our audio analysis and investigations.
Our Behavioural Scientists offer specialist advice and support, conduct in-house research on threats to national security, work with researchers outside the organisation and with our international partners to identify and translate high quality research and train frontline intelligence officers in their core skills.
