Deputy Head of Internal Audit – Technology

As our Deputy Head of Internal Audit (specialising in technology), you will work at the heart of the UK intelligence community. With great leadership skills, you will shape internal audit assurance and offer advice across MI5, MI6 and GCHQ. You will focus on quickly understanding different topics and areas of the agencies and providing customers with the advice they need. Everything you do will help us to strengthen our risk management, governance and internal controls.

To join, you will have an IIA qualification (or equivalent), and/or you will be a qualified accountant. We will also expect you to have an extensive internal audit and risk management background. Plus, you will need impressive knowledge of technology audits, platforms and product sets and ideally hold a CSA qualification. But, importantly, you will be able to deliver a portfolio of complex audit work to set deadlines.

As a credible leader, you will have a successful track record of developing teams and nurturing talent. Your proactive mindset and collaborative ethos means you will provide solutions ahead of deadlines and build strong relationships with our partners. All in all, your skills and expertise will give us the confidence to carry out our work.

Senior Internal Auditor – Technology

As a Senior Internal Auditor with a focus on technology, you will work on complex audits for MI5, MI6 and GCHQ. You will need to get to grips with how tech supports a variety of areas, some of which will be unique to our intelligence work. So, to understand and evaluate them, you will communicate with people across all three organisations. You will also manage a small team of qualified auditors, supporting everyone to carry out high-quality assurance to agreed timescales and budgets.

To join, you will need to have a background of internal audit and risk management. It means you are comfortable performing complex, high risk internal audits, all while dealing with ambiguity. Your experience will all be backed up by your knowledge of applying audit testing methodologies, data analysis and root cause analysis. So you will review design control processes, and always look for ways to improve things. And, as confident leader, you will build great relationships with customers, foster a collaborative ethos and negotiate effectively with stakeholders.

Senior Internal Auditor

As a Senior Auditor, you will support the Deputy Head of Internal Audit in our non-technology areas. Day-to-day, you will provide expert advice and evaluate business arrangements across all three intelligence agencies. This will range from overseeing and managing a small team, to delivering your own independent reviews.

It’s incredibly varied work where you will assess things that are completely unique to the intelligence community. You will also seek out innovative ways of working and ensure we are making the best decisions. It means you will interact with staff at all levels and take the lead when communicating with senior stakeholders. Everything you do will help to strengthen and enhance our risk management, governance and internal control arrangements.

To join, you will have a background in internal audit and risk management. This will be supported by your experience of performing complex, high risk internal audits and your knowledge of audit testing methodologies, data analysis and root cause analysis. Comfortable with ambiguity, you will manage competing priorities and negotiate with customers. With a positive and proactive mindset, you will encourage change, inspire innovation and lead teams. Internal Audit Operations Manager

As our Operations Manager, you will coordinate and manage the administration and operations of the team, which is crucial for our success. With a clear focus on operations, you will look after the reporting and monitoring process for audit performance as well as manage the administrative support team and make sure we have the right resource. 

You will help with the on-going maintenance of the internal audit methodology and manage the annual audit planning exercise. We will also look to you to manage the function’s budget and to provide clear reports and analysis.

To join you must have demonstrable experience of working in an Internal Audit function, and it is highly desirable that you that you possess an Internal Audit qualification. Maintaining the audit universe requires a strong insight into internal audit standards, processes and accepted good practice.

Procurement Officer

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Procurement Officers, who will gain exposure to the world of an interesting and dynamic procurement team. Having a direct impact on operational activity, the procurement team lets and manages contracts and procures goods, services and works.

As a Procurement Officer, you will work in a professional procurement team where you will support the Procurement Manager in the timely delivery of a number of procurement projects. Through this delivery work, you will have the opportunity to develop your own procurement and supply chain skills, and promote knowledge and resource sharing with other team members in developing skills and ideas.

Working with Procurement professionals and suppliers, you will support the reviewing of contract performance and delivery to ensure requirements and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.

Internal Auditor

As an Internal Auditor, you will work in our wide-ranging non-technology areas. You will have huge scope working across all three intelligence agencies, providing advice and delivering internal audit assurance. It’s incredibly varied work where you will assess a range of operational and corporate areas. In fact, you will assess some things that are completely unique to the intelligence community, and we will encourage you to spend time getting to grips with the subject matter. It means you will meet lots of people, learn about the challenges and then produce high quality reviews – all of which will allow us to operate safely and efficiently.

To join, you will need a background in internal audit and risk management in either the private or public sector. With experience of performing audits, you will have knowledge of methodologies, data analysis and root cause analysis. And with excellent communication skills, you will be confident talking to a range of people and writing reports. As we are constantly developing our skills and adapting to ever-evolving risks, you will also need to be a keen learner. And with a passion to protect the UK, you will have a hugely positive impact across all three agencies.

Internal Auditor – Technology

As a Technology Auditor, you will deliver a huge variety of internal audit assurance to MI5, MI6 and GCHQ. You will support a range of business areas - everything from operations and technology to corporate and shared services. It means you will deal with some incredibly interesting topics that are unique to the UK intelligence community. To get to grips with these areas and quickly evaluate them, you will liaise with staff across all three agencies. Plus, you will confidently work to deadlines and set budgets, and sometimes as part of a wider team.

To join, you will need to have a background of internal audit and risk management. Tech will become your area of specialism, so you will ideally have experience of technology auditing, along with knowledge of platforms, product sets and audit testing methodologies. You will also be comfortable performing internal audits while dealing with ambiguity. With a proactive and positive mindset, you will deliver difficult messages sensitively, improve internal methods and influence change. As keen learner with a passion to protect the UK, you will have a hugely positive impact across all three agencies.
